Good Shepherd Baptist Church

A Legacy of Faith, Family, and Service

Founded in Brooklyn, New York, on October 9, 1979, by Reverend Luders Cleophat and Reverend Agenord Macellus, our church was established to be a spiritual home for Haitian immigrants seeking connection, belonging, and purpose. These visionary leaders laid the foundation with a steadfast faith in God, a deep commitment to community, and a belief in the life-changing power of education.

Their message was both timeless and clear: Invest in God, and invest in people.

After their passing, the work they began was entrusted to Rev. Magloire Felix and Rev. Jean Petion and later joined by Rev. Etienne Cid and Rev. Jean Felisme. These devoted leaders have faithfully continued the mission, shepherding the church into a new era while honoring the legacy of those who came before them.

Today, our congregation is a beautiful mosaic of cultures and languages, with members worshiping in English, French, Haitian Creole, and Spanish. Education remains a foundational pillar of our ministry, guiding our youth and families toward a future rooted in faith and wisdom.

In Haiti, our outreach continues to bear fruit through the grace of God. We provide subsidized and tuition-free education to middle school students in Lamorthe, Croix-des-Bouquets, and Ganthier, empowering the next generation with knowledge and hope.

No matter your background or where you are on your spiritual journey, we welcome you. Come grow with us—in faith, in love, and in service to God's kingdom and the community in which we serve!

A large, white Gothic-style church stands with a prominent red cross at the top. The building features tall arched windows and elaborate details along the facade. Three people are gathered in conversation in front of the church on a wet pavement. The sky above is partly cloudy, with patches of blue visible.
